18 May 2013: Saturday 18th May Friendly v CK Andover u15
An excellent workout for both teams that proved that next season already looks promising for the U16's and newly formed U15's. It was hard to see that this was the U15's first match together as they proved a stubborn opponent for the U16's with some tough tackling and battling all over the pitch. First half goals from Kamil Lewandowski, Charlie Hampton (right foot !), and Matt Blake gave the U16's a lead at half time. The second half saw 2 goals from Jord Mumford and an excellent hatrick from Tom Haynes. The scoreline was never important. The U16's achieved the targets set out by me before the game and the U15's gained some great match practice to which they proved when hassling the U16 defence at a corner to force a well deserved goal. Well done to both teams.

04 May 2013: Saturday 4th May 2013 Home v Worthies TWYFL Division 2
CK ANDOVER 3 Worthies 1

We knew this would be a tough finale to the season against a much improved Worthies team. They also had only 10 and as we found when we played Alderbury this can be very difficult to play against. Worthies took the lead but then CK started to control the game and began to create chances. Charlie Hampton then swung a great corner in that the Worthies defence could not deal with and Kamil Lewandowski pounced to smash the ball into the net. In the second half CK were much the better team and made the extra player count. A great ball through saw Jord Mumford not giving up on it and managed to cross from a tight angle for Charlie Hampton to cooly side foot home. A great move and finish. The two players combined well again later. This time Charlie crossing for Jord to finish well. A well earned victory. Player of the match was Tom Haynes. Back to his best in the centre of defence.

CK ANDOVER 1 Worthies 2

The second match in this double header had an air of a friendly about it as CK players seemed to think that the main game had already been played. To their credit Worthies played the ball over the top well and led through a first half penalty. CK again looked the better team in the second half but found the Worthies goalkeeper in outstanding form. Worthies then broke and finished well to make it 2-0. Again CK pressed and Jord Mumford finished superbly to grab a goal back and make for a tense finish but CK could not find the equaliser. Player of the match was Charlie Hampton who always caused the Worthies team problems.

27 April 2013: Saturday 27th April 2013 away v Alderbury TWYFL Division 2
Alderbury 1 CK ANDOVER 4

The whole squad are player of the match today. Everything that we asked them to do today at training last night they achieved. Some of the football played today was outstanding. The back line making decisions quickly and taking control, the midfield putting pressure on the ball quickly, the front line changing position and making the opposition work hard. A very happy coaching team ! Straight from the kick off CK took control with some excellent passing. Alderbury were stuck in their own half for most of the first half but it took a great goal to open the scoring. Good work in midfield allowed Charlie Hampton to look up and deliver an inch perfect ball over the top to Jord Mumford running in and to hit a sweet right foot volley into the net. Then came the only negative for CK. Alderbury won a corner and poor marking allowed them to equalise with their first shot of the match. That shocked CK into more wonderful football with triangle passing and switching the play time and time again. That move led to James Broadbent producing a wonderful curling shot that the keeper could only parry allowing Jord Mumford to follow in and grab his second. The second half followed the first with CK in control. A great corner whipped in by Tom Haynes saw defender Matt Blake hit a unstoppable volley to make it 3-1. A great goal. CK then relaxed and could of added more goals to the scoreline but had to wait till late on when James Broadbent storming through the Alderbury defence wrapped up the win with a well taken finish. Irrespective of the result today it was the football played today that was just a joy to watch in spells. Also the desire to win and not be second to any ball was evident from the very first kick. Well done everyone.

20 April 2013: Saturday 20th April 2013 Away v Whitchurch TWYFL Division 2
Whitchurch 4 CK ANDOVER 1
CK ANDOVER 0 Whitchurch 2

A story of silly mistakes by CK and no luck whatsoever saw Whitchurch clinch the title with 2 wins in this double header match. Before the match we spoke about how to press the opposition and give them no time on the ball and CK started well and although Whitchurch took the lead it wasn't long before Jord Mumford finished well to level the scores. Whitchurch then looked nervous and CK should have built a good platform to have a real go at them but then two errors gave Whitchurch a comfortable lead to which they added to in the second half to win 4-1. The second match saw CK come more into the game as an attacking force but had no luck whatsoever. On another day I think we could have scored 5 or 6 goals but it was again Whitchurch that took their chances when they came along and they secured the win that won them the league. The negatives today were again unforced errors on our part, but the positives were that again we matched one of the leagues top teams for long periods of a match. Player of the match today went Kamil Lewandowski for a hard working display in the CK midfield.

13 April 2013: Saturday 13th April 2013 Away v Redlynch TWYFL Division 2
Redlynch 2 CK ANDOVER 2

Not a great training session the night before led to a poor first half performance from CK. We started with a defensive formation but the back line had little communication and were not playing as a solid back line. The Redlynch team took advantages of this playing long balls over the top for their quick strikers. Keeper Edward Farrow denied them saving bravely at the feet of the strikers but it was only a matter of time before they took the lead. Not learning from this CK soon conceded again when a shout and a move up would have got an offside decision with ease. The positives in the first half was Liam Ryan man marking their danger man well, Matt Lovering battling in midfield, and George Daykin leading the front line well on his own. The second half saw a moan from me and a change in formation as we now had the slight slope with us. Pushing Kamil Lewandowski into midfield and Jord Mumford upfront and doing away with the man marking role. Right from the kick off CK started more aggressively and were now winning every ball and tackle and attacking with force. Tom Haynes then curled a wonderful 20 yard left foot shot into the top corner. Only one team in the game now with CK piling the pressure on. This led to Max McGrath putting in a 30 yard looping shot that the keeper seemed to misjudge allowing the ball to hit the post. Jord Mumford steaming in to smack the ball into the net from a tight angle. CK then went looking for the winner but still had to be careful of the Redlynch long ball. A draw on reflection a fair result and the squad should be proud of the second half fight back. Harry Plummer gave a great aggressive midfield performance today but player of the match goes to Liam Ryan who done a top man marking role in the first half and then commanded a much improved back line in the second.

06 April 2013: Saturday 6th April 2013 Home v Alderbury TWYFL Division 2
CK ANDOVER 5 Alderbury 0

Alderbury only turned up with 9 players and gave a spirited performance. We had warned the team before hand that it would not be an easy task as they would push 8 players behind the ball and that was how it turned out in a first half where CK could not get their passing together at all and could not make the extra 2 players count. CK finally took the lead when a fine cross was put in by Tom Haynes and the Alderbury defender could only help the ball into the net. At half time we spoke about using the ball better to make the pitch bigger and stretch the Alderbury players to open up the spaces.
And to their credit the team took this on board playing much better. Jord Mumford used the ball well and gave a fine left foot finish to make it 2-0 Jord added his second before Brandon Tulk capped a hard working display with a fine finish to make it 4-0. Jord Mumford then picked up a deserved yellow card for kicking the ball away after a referee decision a fine coming that Jord will be paying ! He then got back to what he does his best by striking a 20 yard free kick into the top corner a great finish which capped a display that earned him player of the match. A match that which will have taught the squad a lot about playing against a defensive set up.
