MATCH REPORTS
30 March 2014: Thatcham Town Harriers v CK Anover PHYL Div 1
CK Andover U14s sponsored by SD Save Distributors and the Laundry room (UK) Ltd.
Although the League was technically Won last week with Woolton Hill conceding the game and points to us we still have to wait for the league to officially hand us the win and points so todays PHYL Div 1 game against Thatcham Town Harriers Was the perfect way to win the league under our own merits with games played and won. CK started on the front foot and were unlucky not to take and early lead when Cameron Nicel had a couple of shots that went narrowly wide But after 10 minutes Connor Mumford got the break through CK deserved when he headed in at the far post from a super free kick from Luke Nulty. Minutes later Connor had scored again when he tapped in from another great corner from Matthew Rooke. From that point CK grew in confidence and the football being played was fantastic to watch the passing was crisp and too feet and the movement on and off the ball was first class. CK third goal was a lovely goal with some great link up play in the middle of the park the ball ended with Lloyd Thompson who slid the ball through to Ben Synan whose chip over the advancing keeper was executed with ease. CK got their fourth when a penalty was awarded for handball and Connor Mumford converted into the bottom left hand corner to complete his Hat trick. And the goals kept coming with Lloyd Thompson grabbing a quick brace the first one he was on hand to tap home from close range following up well from a spilled Ben shot and his second came after a great cross was put in from Luke Nulty and Jordan Alexander headed it back across goal were Lloyd was waiting to smash home. Although the Defence and Goalkeeper were rarely troubled within the first half when they were called on they dealt with everything very well.
Half time, Thatcham Town Harriers 0 CK Andover 6
At the Break with the game and title wrapped up we made several changes so that everybody could get a game we asked the boys to keep their intensity and not take the foot off the gas and they did not let us down. But Thatcham scored with a super finish of their own when their player broke down the wing cut in and chipped William Stevens to perfection. CK scored again when Ben Synan tapped in from close range after a great run and cross from Lloyd Thompson. Thatcham then scored again when after a Ben shot was saved they broke and ran the entire length of the pitch and slotted pass Will. With many CK players changing and swapping positions so that everybody could play the same amount of time on the pitch Brandon Shipsey found himself playing striker for the last 5 minutes of the game and during a goal mouth scramble the ball fell to him and he lashed home into the top of the net.
Man of the Match went to Connor Mumford who was back to his best today he drove the team forward and put in a good battling display, also his passing and link up play was good and all capped with a tidy hat trick.

Overall boys I was very pleased with the effort and attitude all of you put in today and felt the football was our best yet not just a 10 minute spell here and there but for the whole of the first half and spells in the second you were unplayable. From the first minute you all kept playing and pushing to the end. Today you played like CHAMPIONS and acted with dignity and style you have had a fantastic season - Quarter finals of the Hampshire cup, Finalists of the League cup and now PHYL Division 1 winners. I have said it a lot this season but I am so proud of you all. You deserve all the praise Barrie, Julian and I can heap on you. You are all a credit to this Team, This Club, Yourselves and more importantly to your families. It really has been a pleasure to see you all grow into the fine young men you have become and I cannot wait until next season where I know you can achieve even more. Well done to all of you again and see you Tuesday
16 March 2014: PHYL League Cup FINAL
CK Andover U14s sponsored by SD Save Distributors and the Laundry room (UK) Ltd
CK Played their PHYL league cup game Final today against Andover New Street knowing that the last time we played them we had suffered a 7 -2 defeat having been out battled and out muscled and that was the main focus of our team talk before the game and the boys responded brilliantly and gave everything they had today and more. Although the pitch was not brilliant more mud than grass the football by both teams was not great but both teams tried their best to play. In a evenly contested start to the match with both teams eager to stamp their authority on the game and try to control the midfield area it was CK who took the lead through a well taken penalty from Ben Synan after Jayed Alam had been brought down clumsily by the New street defender again the game ebbed and flowed from end to end and CK scored again through Connor Mumford only for the linesman to raise his flag for offside New street were rattled now, But CK were unable to capitalise on their dominance and soon conceded a penalty themselves in which New Street finished with a scuffed effort. This gave New Street some confidence and they began to show their Division 1 class and status and scored a fantastic second goal with a great shot from outside the area giving William no chance in the CK goal. CK responded really well and fought and harried for everything whilst trying to play some football.
Half time - CK Andover 1 Andover New Street 2
After the break it was more of the same with some great battles all over the pitch with neither team really creating much but when William was called into action he swept up well and made some vital saves, CK could not really get to test the New Street keeper as much as we would like due to their defence protecting him well clearing their lines and forcing the CK defence and midfielders to work hard. New Street then scored again when they broke well down the wing sent a cross fizzing through the penalty area for the opposite winger to control and slot past William. For the last 10 minutes New Street defended for their lives with CK pressing forward really well but just could not find that elusive break through.
Man of the match went to William Stevens for some great saves and vital clearances but the whole team played brilliantly GIVING 100% and I could have picked any one of you.

Overall boys I was very pleased with the effort and commitment showed today the fighting spirit and togetherness was good to watch at times. The attitude from all was good you listened and then applied what was asked. Also the BELIEF WAS THERE FOR EVERYONE TO SEE, I could not have asked anymore from any of you. WE AS A CLUB AND TEAM have come a long way in a short amount of time and I am so proud of you all. We now move forward as a team and complete the task of winning the league so that we can play teams of this calibre every week where I know you will compete and improve even more as Players and as a unit WELL DONE again although we did not get the result we wanted we DID GET TO THE FINAL and that in my eyes is still a fantastic achievement and one were you should be VERY PROUD OF YOURSELVES. - see you Tuesday
09 March 2014: CK Andover v Cold Ash B&G PHYL Div 1
CK Andover U14s sponsored by SD Save Distributors and the Laundry room (UK) Ltd
CK got off today with a very dodgy start and rarely got out of 2nd gear all half, where we could not Pass, Move or Communicate which was very frustrating for the coaches on the sidelines as that was all we had asked the boys to do first half along with pressing hard and in packs but the boys found themselves under pressure from the start with Cold Ash passing the ball well when in procession and pressing us very well when they did not and wanting to show that the 6 0 loss against us before Christmas was just a blip on their part. But CK managed to take the lead when a cross caused confusion in the Cold Ash defence and after a real goal mouth scramble Ben Synan fired in from close range. Then 5 minutes later exactly the same thing happened and in a melee of bodies Lloyd Thompson was there this time to fire in. CK then scored their third when a good long Kieran Masters throw was flicked on by Ben to Lloyd who finished well. CK got their fourth just before the break when Cameron Nicel played the ball through to Ben who battled past 2 defenders and slotted past the on rushing goal keeper.
Half time, CK Andover 4 Cold Ash B&G 0
After the break and a good STERN team talk the CK boys ignored everything they were told and carried on playing in the same vein as the first half Except for the Communication which did improve a little and within 10 minutes found themselves conceding a goal CK then managed to restore their 4 goal Cushion when Matthew Rooke curled in a super free-kick into the far post and with the goal keeper only managing to get a slight hand to it, It nestled nicely in to the bottom corner. Then came CKs best goal of the game after some good pass and move football in the middle and right side of the pitch the ball was played into Jordan Alexander whose first time pass over the top was perfect for Lloyd who controlled well and smash in for the sixth and his hat-trick. Late on CK conceded again when from a clever free kick which was placed under the wall and just out of Williams grasp into the bottom corner.
Man of the Match went to Kieran Masters for an outstanding display in defence and also showed drive and determination going forward and getting his head to several crosses to clear well done Kieran very pleased for you today well deserved.
Full Time, CK Andover 6 Cold Ash B&G 2
Overall Boys I thought the result flattered us big time today and still do not know how we went in 4 up at half time. Before the Game Barrie, Julian and Myself spoke to YOU ALL about playing a high energy pressing and passing game but.... YOU started this game doing the exact opposite we did not pass, Move or communicate. But the sign of a great team is that when things are not going well you can grind out a result and today you did that so well done plenty to practise on in training this week ahead of our biggest game EVER as a TEAM next week
As a team we can learn from today well done to all of you again as today was about getting the required result and we did it see you Tuesday.
02 March 2014: CK Andover v Thatcham Town Harriers PHYL Div 1
CK Andover U14s sponsored by SD Save Distributors and the Laundry room (UK) Ltd.
Todays PHYL Div 1 game against Thatcham Town Harriers looked like game that was very winnable on paper but was also a game that if the boys did not turn and play with full concentration and desire one that could quite easily turn into a banana skin. And after the issues of last week I was a little worried what response I was going to get from the boys I did not know if they would turn up with a positive and professional attitude or one where they were scared and wanted to hide away in their shells. But after 10 minutes I knew what frame of mind they were all in as some of the football was simply awesome straight from the start CK played some really good passing and moving football probably some of the best this season the triangles and movement off the ball was superb. Ben Synan got the first of the game finishing well from inside the box. The second goal came as a great corner was delivered from Cameron Nicel caused the Thatcham defender to panic and put into his own goal Then came a Goal from Jordan Alexander slotting in from a super delivery of a corner from Matthew Rooke, The CK Boys kept playing but could not find the goal again. Although the Defence and Goalkeeper were rarely troubled within the first half when they were called on they dealt with everything well.
Half time, CK Andover 3 Thatcham Town Harriers 0
At the Break we asked the boys to keep their intensity and not take the foot off the gas and they did not let us down although the football became a little scrappy But scored again when Ben Synan ran onto a pass from Sami Pollard-Crane rounded the keeper and put it away coolly. Thatcham then began to find their feet a little and tried to play some football and got there reward with a bravely taken goal of their own. This seemed to galvanise the CK Boys and with a few tactical changes and substitutions CK started to play their football and in the last 10 minutes played some great stuff first and Luke Nulty followed in well and blasted past the keeper after some fine link up play from the team Then Lloyd Thompson got in on the act and judged his run well from a ball chipped through controlled well and lobbed the advancing keeper. Ben Synan then completed his hat trick by heading in at the far post from a great delivery and then in the last few minutes Lloyd scored his second with a great header from 12 yards out after a good cross from Luke
Man of the Match went to Matthew Rooke for some fantastic defending a good battling display, also his passing and link up play was good and provided some great crosses from corners.
Full Time, CK Andover 8 Thatcham Town Harriers 1
Overall boys I was very pleased with the effort all of you put in today and felt the football was our best yet not just a 10 minute spell here and there but for 50 minutes today you were unplayable. I was also pleased with your attitudes from the first minute you all kept playing and pushing to the end. Well done to all of you again and see you Tuesday.
23 February 2014: CK Andover v Westwood Wanderers PHYL League cup Semi-Final
CK Andover U14s sponsored by SD Save Distributors and the Laundry room (UK) Ltd
CK Played this Semi Final PHYL league cup game on the back of a poor result last week and were eager to put that behind them and started the game at a fast pace attacking from the first whistle and CK took the lead after only 5 minutes played with a nice finish from Lloyd Thompson from a tight angle after some good team link up play the game continued at the fast pace and although the football was not particularly nice to watch with a strong wind hindering the play. CK tried to get their passing and moving going they were working well and tirelessly and were certainly the better team. The defending was firm and strong with Goalkeeper William Stevens rarely needed but when he was he did well clearing up when necessary. CK then scored their second When from a quick throw in Ben Synan found himself in space on the edge of the area and smashed home giving the keeper no chance. The third CK goal came when a cross was whipped into the area and Connor Mumford was there to hit home from a few yards. Both teams were very competitive and eager to proceed into the final.
Half time - CK Andover 3 Westwood Wanderers 0
After the break it was Westwood who had the Wind and slope in their favour and used it to their advantage and were awarded a penalty soon after which they missed then after some more attacks from Westwood which the defence were repelling well particularly Angus McMahon who headed the ball more today than he has had to all season. With the pressure mounting the Westwood goal soon came and they scored with 20 minutes to go. CK were battling for everything and creating chances at the other end but just could not find that final ball or hit the target when well placed unfortunately with 10 minutes to go more of the long ball and strong challenges from both teams resulted in a Westwood free kick on the edge of the CK area and a fierce shot resulted in William Stevens only palming the ball into the goal. This gave Westwood some hope and they pushed forward trying to get an equaliser but CK defended for their lives and held out to win the game. CKs reward is now a Final against Andover New Street.
Man of the match went to Angus McMahon for a brilliant display and solid defending in difficult circumstances and also to Ben Synan who showed great captaincy and maturity during an incident in the first half as well as leading the team to a hard fought and well earned result. Well done both of you
Full Time - CK Andover 3 Westwood Wanderers 2
Overall boys I was very pleased with the effort and commitment showed today the play was good to watch at times and the defence and midfield showed great determination and desire not to concede and lose this important match. The attitude from all was good you listened and then applied what was asked. Could not have asked for any more ENJOY this boys you deserve it DO NOT let the other issues and complaints taint your success WE AS A CLUB AND TEAM have done nothing wrong and I am so proud of you all - see you Tuesday
16 February 2014: QK Southampton v CK Andover Hampshire Cup Quarter Finals
CK Andover U14s sponsored by SD Save Distributors and the Laundry room (UK) Ltd.
Up against a very good QK Southampton Youth side who are one of top Tyro League Div 1.teams and it was QK who started the game as if they meant business and quickly got into their stride Passing and Moving the ball around well and sometimes with ease. QK scored their first through a well taken Corner and that Spurred them on to take a commanding lead at half time. CK tried to battle for some control and get some sort of foothold in the game but could not get any sort of their passing game going as QK worked very hard and closed us down quickly.
Half time, QK Southampton 3 CK Andover 0
After the break CK finally began to try and play and battle for the ball and got themselves a goal with a SUPER free kick from Lloyd Thompson after he had been brought down when charging through on goal which resulted in the QK player being sent off. This Goal and Sending off Seemed to fuel both teams and it became a very good, Hard and competitive game But unfortunately the quality of QK play saw them score again and this really knocked the CK boys confidence who frustratingly seemed to lose their fight and composure and that let QK score another 2 goals late on.
Man of the Match went to Cameron Nicel who played with great bravery made some fantastic tackles and driving runs and seemed to cover every single blade of grass and never gave up.
Full Time, QK Southampton 6 CK Andover 1
Overall boys I am left feeling Disappointed.....NOT with the result because overall I felt they were the better team TODAY with the ball. Their movement with and without the ball today was also better than us. BUT what really upsets me was the effort, passion and belief you ALL played with today it was sadly lacking and instead of when going a goal or 2 down fighting back and wanting and believing we can still win this, We seemed to surrender to them and show them too much respect and admit defeat...
YOU ARE ALL SO MUCH better than that. I am SO Proud of your exploits in the Hampshire Cup this year if you had told me and offered me quarter finals at the beginning of the season I would have ripped your hand off. YOU ALL made to it to the last 8 of the Major cup competition the county has to offer and beaten some very good teams along the way playing some bloody good football. I am also so excited by the season you can STILL achieve this season as long as you BELIEVE it can happen.
No training Tuesday as JHS is closed but I will see you all Thursday for Fitness Training.
