18 October 2014: SHIPTON BELLINGER VS CK ANDOVER

CK Andover U16s travelled to Shipton Bellinger in what was to be a truly memorable fixture, unfortunately for all the wrong reasons.
From the start it was clear to see that both teams were up for the game and badly wanting the win. However, the tone of the game changed just 10 minutes in when a Shipton player was sent off for a deliberate and unprovoked attack on a CK player. Understandably this really fired the CK boys up and with Shipton down to 10, the whole team pulled together and went looking for a goal.
Not for want of trying the goals just wouldn't come and at half time the score still at 0-0.
During the team talk we encouraged the boys to stay focussed on the game, to show we were the better team with our football and to stay calm. Not an easy task in what was proving to be a game against a tough, physical and aggressive opposition.
All credit to every one of the boys, the second half kept up the tempo of the first and despite several shots on goal, it was Shipton that finally hit the target. A goal that was saved by a CK defender, unfortunately (but bravely) with his hand. The second red card of the game and a penalty followed. The penalty was taken well and with the score now 1-0 and both teams down to 10, changes were made to strengthen a very tired defence.
The last 20 minutes of the game were very heated, with 2 'accidental' injuries on the CK keeper, the second of which meaning a trip to casualty after the game with a suspected broken nose. The boys never gave up and although we looked the stronger team throughout, and despite several shots, the goals just wouldn't come.
Eventually and gratefully the final whistle came, and although the score gave Shipton the win, CK were certainly the winners in my eyes.
No man of the match was awarded today, it would be unfair to single out any one player, I am proud of you all for the way you handled our toughest game yet.
11 October 2014: COWPLAIN YOUTH VS CK ANDOVER

CK Andover U16s travelled to Emsworth near Portsmouth in round 2 of the Hampshire Cup.
CK felt confident when we arrived at the ground and this was boosted by watching some poor shooting practise from the opposition.
Unfortunately though, right from the outset Cowplain proved their shooting was far from poor and with 4 goals against us in the first 20 minutes CK looked almost out of the game.
A stern team talk at half time seemed to wake and fire the boys up and the second half was a completely different story, with several shots on goal and the whole team now making the opposition look very ordinary.
15 minutes into the half and Will Morton scored the first for CK, with Rhys Mallon soon following with his first of the season.
Feeling much more confident and clearly enjoying the half, several more chances for CK nearly raised the hope of a win but Cowplain responded with a further 2 goals, leaving the score level for the half.
The final score 6-2 proved the opposition the worthy winners but the second half showed that when on form, the boys can be a match for any team.
Man of the match went to Ben Bairabas for some amazing saves today, as shown by his head to toe mud theme!
04 October 2014: OVERTON VS CK ANDOVER

CK U16s travelled to Overton on what was to be the arrival of Autumn! It was a very wet start to the most unorganised game of football I have ever experienced. Kick off was due to be 10.30am, but by 10.40am and with no Overton manager, the goals still weren't pegged down, Overton only had 9 players and they were swapping the goalkeeper shirt like a hot potato.
All this in mind we really felt the game was ours for the taking and lots of goals were coming.
Unfortunately Overton had other ideas and a flukey kick from a very wet ball caught Callum Taylor out in goal and we were shockingly 1-0 down. This not enough of a shock though and soon a well taken free kick allowed Overton to put physical pressure on our keeper to score their second.
I'm pleased to stay Ck's heads didn't drop and a change up front changed the pace of the game with Luke Borley upping the tempo and soon scoring his much awaited first goal of the season. Half time score 2-1 and CK looking the better team.
At half time we made a few changes and adjusted the formation, to the seemingly preferred 4-4-2, but completely against the run of play, Overton scored a third soon into the half.
All credit to the boys, they never gave up the fight and really showed Overton that from this point they wanted the win more than they did. With 6 fired up subs desperate to get on and make the difference, more changes for fresh legs were made and very soon Bailey Turner and Callum Butland were getting a piece of the action, scoring Ck's 2nd and 3rd. With the score now level and the pressure off again, CK settled into playing some good, enjoyable football and shots on goal could have easily put the score into double figures. Final goals from Lewis Coggins and Callum James left the full time score at a well deserved 5-3 win to CK.
I'm so happy with all the boys today, the fight Overton put up was unexpected, but you truly showed them that you wanted and deserved the win more. Man of the match today goes to Sam Woodland for such a solid defensive performance but I am proud of you all and so enjoying the season so far.
27 September 2014: CK ANDOVER VS LYNDHURST
CK ANDOVER 2 LYNDHURST 1
Still hoping to bag the first win of the new season, CK U16s faced an old foe as Lyndhurst travelled to London Rd for their first game of the season.
Right from the start CK were looking up for the battle, and the 5 man CK defence soon showed to be unnecessary. With the line up now as a more traditional 4-4-2, CK dominated the midfield and frustrated the Lyndhurst players and coaches but CK struggled not to get sucked in to the physical play and banter from the opposition.
A well struck ball and goal from on form Will Morton settled the CK players and the rest of the half was a pleasure to watch, with CK clearly enjoying the lead.
A second goal came shortly before half time, with Bartek Wyrwa taking the shot and the Lyndhurst defence helping the ball into the net.
The second half soon stepped up a gear, with Lyndhurst showing they were not giving up without a fight. CK kept their composure for most of the half but a lack in concentration gave Lyndhurst the goal they were looking for.
Lyndhurst battled to the end but the well deserved 3 points and much needed win went to CK. Well done all, a great game of football. Man of the match goes to Ethan Benham for a good, hardworking and solid performance.
20 September 2014: LITTLETON VS CK ANDOVER
LITTLETON 4 CK ANDOVER 1
After last week's defeat, CK U16s were keen to work hard for their first win of the season away to Littleton.
A good start to the game, with midfield working hard, gave a few players the opportunity to get some shots on goal but unfortunately it was Littleton who took control scoring 2 before half time.
In the second half Will Morton scored from a passage of play down the left hand side, slotting it into goal but after a further 2 goals Littleton were the worthy winners on the day.
Final score 4-1.
