CK ANDOVER - Under 18s 2014/2015

Winning isn't everything.......but wanting to win is.

A challenging season ahead which will see the squad competing a year above their age group but one which will see the lads develop as individuals and as a team. With players leaving from last season and new players joining us we look forward to the season ahead.

21 March 2015: CK 11 GIVE EVERYTHING
Worthy's 4 CK ANDOVER 2

CK only had 11 players and at this level against older opposition that's quite an ask to play a full game without the substitution option but every player gave everything today. We opted for a five man midfield to try and crowd the opposition out and also try and conserve some energy for our midfield. The plan worked well with Worthy's only having a couple of long range chances in the early exchanges. CK then allowed themselves to be intimidated by there bigger opponents and with CK not putting in challenges Worthy's gave themselves a two goal advantage. CK then put Worthy's under pressure and great determination from Liam Walters saw him smash the ball home from inside the penalty box. The confidence then flowed through the team and we got to half time comfortably. Again in the second half CK looked comfortable the midfield holding the ball well but a lapse in concentration saw Worthy's increase their lead. To their credit CK heads did not drop and they continued to press their opponents. Edwards big goal kicks putting them under constant pressure and this paid dividends when they could not deal with it dropping in their penalty box and the defender could only help it into the net. CK back In it and looking to get the point their efforts deserved but without any fresh legs it was difficult and Worthy's late on sealed the win. A superb battling performance today and one the lads should be proud of. Special mention to some great tackles today especially from Femi Oduneye. Also excellent work rate from Ethan Stoodley and Lewis Reed. Player of the match today goes to all 11. They really played as team.

07 March 2015: CK DISSAPOINTING
CK ANDOVER 0 Littleton 7

CK had players missing but were boosted when Littleton only turned up with nine players. However instead of using the space and making the extra numbers count CK gave a first half display to forget. They could not keep the ball and allowed Littleton to control the game comfortably scoring two goals in the process. In the second half Littleton increased their player numbers and took complete control. Although CK improved on their first half performance it was still not good enough. Not enough passion or football ability today. Brandon Tulk ,Niall Kane, and Harry Plummer all put in good shifts and player of the match Mo Gadd worked hard up front but overall it was a poor performance today. The lads are in a tough league but really need to approach matches with a much better attitude. Our training session last night was exceptional but they took none of this on the pitch today.

28 February 2015: CK SHOW SPIRIT AND FIGHT
South Wonston 4 CK ANDOVER 0

CK looked for some improvements from the last disappointing match and to be fair we could not have asked for more from the lads today. CK held their own in an even first half and in fact it was CK that played the better football. We really have had no luck this season and just when we looked to be taking control Callum Lopez Holdway fell awkwardly in a tackle resulting in a dislocated or broken finger. Callum taken straight to hospital to be checked out. CK had to reshuffle but that caused concentration to lapse and as always in this league South Wonston took full advantage to open the scoring from a corner not dealt with. It was then more bad luck as Jordy Mumford took another blow to an already bruised shin and had to go off. CK battled well and got in to half time just trailing by the single goal. CK then lost the influential Brandon Tulk who had to leave due to work commitments and so CK started the second half with 10 men. The lads played their hearts out in another reshuffled formation and on a heavy pitch. Jordy typifying the spirit by going back on when he couldn't run and nearly pulled a goal back with a great shot that went inches over. The older Wonston soon made their age and number advantage take its toll and they added 3 more goals to win comfortably. Some really gutsy performances out their today. All of you gave everything you had. Special mention to captain Harry Plummer for leading the lads so well. Justin Miller and George Daykin had great matches as did Igor Timoteo. Mo Gadd also working hard up front on his own. So we asked for a team performance today that showed the spirit from the start of the season and we got just that. Player of the match goes to everyone today.

24 January 2015: ONE TO FORGET FOR CK
CK ANDOVER 0 Fordingbridge 16

Think the headline and score say all that needs to be said on this performance. Top of the league Fordingbridge were better and stronger in every department and we gave a performance that was just not good enough. Although totally outplayed we also contributed to our own downfall. Special comment to captain Harry Plummer who encouraged throughout and players of the match Brandon Tulk and Igor Timoteo who showed great desire all match. Also an impressive debut from new signing Mo Gad in a very difficult first game for him. I like the players need some time to get over this result but we must try and be mentally ready for next weekends match.

10 January 2015: 10 MAN CK SHOULD BE PROUD
Bishops Waltham 7 CK ANDOVER 0

CK we're up against it from the start with only a squad of 10 turning up to play but the 10 that did should be proud of a hard working battling performance that made Waltham work for most of the goals conceded. CK had a game plan to get bodies behind the ball at all times and is worked with Waltham only leading by the one goal with 10 minutes of the first half left. Then came the first of many strange decisions by the referee. A blatant push in the back was missed and from the attack Waltham made it 2. Frustration followed as many decisions that seemed quite simple went against us. That seemed to break the lads concentration and a mistake led to another goal before half time. Waltham then made their substitute advantage count by bringing on fresh legs and soon punished CK with further goals as the tiring CK legs began to show. CK to their credit still tried to play football and a quick break saw Ethan Stoodley clean through and getting to the ball first to hit the ball goal wards only then to be completely clattered by the out coming keeper. As CK got themselves ready for free kick on the edge of the penalty box the referee decided that a drop ball was the correct decision. Frustration boiled for CK as two players went in the book for disputing further decisions and although wrong I do feel some sympathy with them. So a 7-0 defeat on paper looks like a one sided game and with Waltham's player advantage it was but CK gave everything they had in this game and they should not be too disheartened by it. Player of the match pretty obviously goes to all 10 players today. Thank you from myself and Jamie for your efforts.

13 December 2014: POOR FIRST HALF BETTER SECOND
CK ANDOVER 1 New Street 6

Missing 3 players it was always going to be tough for CK and the match was over in the first half as CK found themselves 5-0 down. A combination of a number of poor aspects of the CK game contributed in giving New Street a commanding lead. Disappointing all over the pitch. At half time we asked the team just to play for some pride and to be fair to the squad they did improve and put up more of a fight. Starting on the front foot Igor Timoteo making his debut picked up the ball on the edge of the box and smashed an unstoppable shot into the net. If CK could have then kept the pressure on Street then it could have been a springboard but again CK conceded a poor goal and the game was over. Player of the match goes to Liam Ryan for a captains performance. The squad are finding it tough at the moment but we need to stay together as a squad. Work Harding hard to be better and to improve. Heads up.
