MATCH REPORTS
12 December 2015: CK THRASHED
Broughton Res 9 CK ANDOVER 0
With CK only having 9 players on the day and having to sign 3 players before the game to make up the team it was always going to be difficult. With all the rushing around prior to kick off to get the players signed the pre match preparation was not as it should have been and CK came up against a much improved Broughton team that looked to have better players than in the first meeting of the teams. Having said all that CK really didn't perform and found themselves 5 down by half time with most of the goals due to bad decision making or errors from the players. A slight improvement in the second half but CK were well beaten my a much better team. I can't fault the players effort and many thanks to those that signed to raise a team on the day but will really need to improve in getting a squad together and as players to even compete in this league.
05 December 2015: GREAT DAY NOT SO GREAT RESULT
West Wight Res 3 CK ANDOVER 1
A great occasion and day saw CK travel to their first Isle of Wight away Hampshire cup tie in the clubs history. It was a long journey for the CK team and also a choppy crossing on the ferry and maybe this contributed to the performance although there can be no excuses as CK went out to a team that they really should have beaten. CK started well in the first 15 minutes as Jordy Mumford and Ryan Morgans both skipped past their full backs to create chances but that was as good as it got for CK in a first half that saw them have the wind and slope yet create only one shot on goal. To make matters worse a misunderstanding in the CK defence saw West Wight take the lead with a gift of a goal. After some stern words CK started better in the second half with Jamie Healy bursting through the midfield into the penalty box only to see his effort come back off the post. CK then had chances to clear a ball into their box but only managed to steer the ball to a West Wight player who made no mistake. Travelling with only 11 players CK did not have too many options but a slight move around of players saw Jay Humphries push on and he gave CK a chance with a well timed leap and header to make it 1-2. Straight from the kick off CK won the ball again and their opponents were rattled but then another lapse in concentration and not tracking the runners saw West Wight add a third and end the contest. Some good performances in a game where CK let themselves down and should have progressed. Dan White produced some excellent saves while playing with an injury. Goalkeeper Tom Jarvis worked hard playing midfield as the team struggled with numbers, but player of the match goes to Jay Humphries who put in some great tackles, pressed forward when he could and capped a top performance with a goal. Superb day for club and team but very dissapointed to be out of the cup.
28 November 2015: GOAL FEAST FOR CK
Baughurst 2 CK ANDOVER 7
CK progressed into the next round of the North Hants Supp cup with an outstanding away win. CK started quickly and used the pacey wingers and forwards they pocess superbly. George Daykin racing through only to be clipped by the keeper in the box. Mark Alexander making no mistake from the spot. More good play saw the ball break to Mark Alexander on the right wing, he produced a quality cross for George Daykin to produce a great bullet header into the top corner. Goal of the game then fell to Jamie Healy who latching on to a loose ball made no mistake on the half volley from 25 yards. Jordy Mumford completed the first half scoring with a cool finish as the ball broke to him from a corner. Leading by four goals did lead the team to naturally take their foot of the pedal somewhat and Baughurst took advantage to grab a goal back. CK increased their lead with Sam Rea reacting first to a near post corner to score. Braughurst then grabbed a second fortunate goal but there was no denying CK as Jordy Mumford broke the offside trap to eventually score after a number of goal line blocks. Although CK had spells where they were not at their best they ended on a high with a great team goal. Good break from the back, quick passing to the wing, a great ball into the far post and Ryan Morgans applying the finish the move deserved. So a good win for CK that will bring confidence to the team. Player of the match goes to Jamie Healy not only a great goal but also a midfield performance full of heart and desire.
23 November 2015: CLOSE BUT NOT ENOUGH FOR CK
CK ANDOVER 1 South Wonston 2
CK took advantage of the occasion under the floodlights for this Open Cup match against league leaders Wonston and rarely looked in trouble in a hard working first half. Wonston only seemed to have a ball through the middle to their pacey forwards and once CK had worked this out they looked comfortable. This then enabled CK to press themselves and this led to a great move with Jamie Healy breaking clear only to see the Wonston keeper make the save. CK then took the lead with CK again breaking clear and the ball falling to Micky Fensome who finished well. Again soon after CK created another chance when Micky Fensome again raced clear only again for the Wonston keeper to deny them again. Chances that would come to haunt CK. In the second half Wonston applied more pressure and CK could not find the outlets that they found in the first half. Wonston reacted first to a CK goal kick and pounced to equalise. This lifted them and it wasn't long before they led. With injuries forcing changes CK could not find that extra gear to get back into the game. Probably not enough from CK to deserve to win the game but a first half performance against a very good team that gives lots of encouragement to this young squad. Player of the match is shared between the two centre backs Rhys Collins and Sam Rea who were superb tonight and gave the team such a solid platform from the back to build on.
14 November 2015: CK PROGRESS INTO NEXT ROUND
Inmar 1 CK ANDOVER 4
CK put in a great performance in awful conditions. Both the pitch and the weather was not the best and adding also that CK played the first half with 10 then the result becomes even more special for the team. Again when the odds are against CK it seems to inspire the team and playing a 4-4-1 formation it was CK who looked like they had the extra player. However they do say that moments change games and step up Rhys Collins who made up yards to chase down the Inmar forward to put in a fantastic tackle as he closed in on a goal. That tackle and determination fired up the team even more. It was playing the ball on the floor and moving it with pace that saw CK then race into a 2 goal lead. Firstly Mark Alexander and then Goerge Daykin producing quality crosses for Ryan Morgans on both occasions to arrive and finish superbly. Hard work and closing down then led to Goerge Daykin to pounce on a keeper error to put CK 3 up. At half time we spoke about the next goal being important and that discipline would come into the game as the Southampton team became more and more aggressive. As expected Inmar came out with more energy but CK now up to 11 players stood firm but as the pressure increased Inmar eventually scored. CK now had to battle and led by the inspirational more experienced players in the team Sam Rea, Mark Alexander, and Jay Humphries they weathered the storm allowing Ryan Morgans to pounce and finish well to complete his hatrick and send CK into the next round. Even towards the last 5 minutes when injuries forced the team to finish with 9 players they stood together and allowed Inmar only a couple of chances. So many massive performances today. Jordy Mumford again skipping past players for fun. Jamie Healy with a workman like midfield performance. Tom Jarvis and Ed Farrow solid when the pressure mounted, but player of the match goes to Callum Holdway Lopez for an outstanding midfield display of tough tackling and great distribution of the ball. Even more was his self control when on the receiving end of some terrible challenges. Great discipline. A good day for the squad.
31 October 2015: POOR DECISIONS COST CK
Sutton Scotney 3 CK ANDOVER 1
Although starting well CK always seemed to be off the pace of the game and as in previous matches gave their top of the table oppenents far too much time on the ball and respect. Scotney taking advantage of this began to stretch the CK midfield by doubling up on their wing play and soon took the lead through a fine finish from the edge of the box. They soon doubled that lead when they broke the CK line but a goal that CK should have been good enough to stop. At half time we spoke about forcing more pressure on them and making them work harder, concentrating on our football. Again as in previous games CK came out and raised their game 100% but two major decisions in the second half denied them at least a point. Firstly within five minutes a harsh penalty decision given for handball. At 3 down CK could have been forgiven for throwing in the towel but it was them that kept pressing and were rewarded with a wonder goal from Mark Alexander, volleying superbly in from outside the box. A now vibrant CK looked a different team full of fight and confidence and rattling the leaders. Then came the second poor decision. Jordy Mumford finally took advantage of the high line running from inside his own half to take the ball on and coolly slip the ball through the the keepers legs only for the Scotney linesman to flag for offside and the goal ruled out. This knocked the wind out of the team and Scotney held on for the win. CK left to think what could of and should of been. So although a defeat again lots of positives for the squad. Callum James having an excellent debut, great second half energy from the central midfield trio of Jamie Healy, Matt Biddolph, and Mark Alexander and a top display from player of the match Rhys Collins who was solid in central defence and then when moved to left back in a tatical swap nullified the dangerous right wing attack.
