MATCH REPORTS
29 September 2012: Friendly.....South Wonston Swifts 4-0 CK
CK never really got going and with hindsight we played a formation which could have been better (i think that means it was my fault!). Swifts effectively fielding the same team as the first game, they controlled the game from the start. the team battled well, worked extremely hard but eventually went 1 -0 down late in the first half, Swifts adding a second just before the break. Ben Hewlett was excellent in goal, Lucy Ladd and Alfie Waters both having excellent first halves. Never say die spirit served the team well in the second half, trying to pass and move wherever possible but we were falling short defending as a unit and Swifts added two more to finish the game 4 -0 winners. Harry Baker was the pick of the bunch today with 3 outstanding tackles, and some superb timing, earning him Man of the Match. Ben Cousins had some excellent moments in the game and new boy Owen McGregor played with great enthusiasm and made several important clearances. As a unit we just didn't click today...............onto the next game!!!
22 September 2012: Tidworth Titans 1-1 CK
Lets focus on the positives.................most of the possession, some excellent passing football with well thought out, and at times, imaginative moves. We looked solid at the back with new boy Lee Nicholson producing another good display in goal. Last years League winners were always going to be a tough test, but CK started confidently, Joe Brown shooting wide from a one on one with the keeper after only 5 minutes. Kial Mumford and Kai Henderson worked tirelessly with excellent skills to supply our front two. Captain Jamie Ross dropping back into space in midfield, particularly in the second half to keep possession.
Kial Mumford put CK ahead with a terrific strike from outside out the box, the ball rattling in off the cross bar in the right corner. A well deserved lead. A frustrated Titans looked unlikely to score from open play, Harvey Wake and Man of the Match Justinhio Fryatt looking superb throughout. A free kick midway through the second half (it should never have been.......ever!) gave Titans a bit of luck, blasting through our wall and pin balling through the box past our keeper. A superb game of competitive football from two excellent teams. Well done guys!
22 September 2012: Friendly.....Tidworth Titans 1-0 CK
Excellent all round play from CK today in the second game of the day. Kai Henderson wore the gloves but had little to do, Justin Fryatt producing another excellent performance in defence. There was little between the two teams, 0-0 at half time with CK creating one real chance on goal, Man of the Match Ben Cousins and Alfie Waters linking up well on several occasions. Titans took the lead in the second half with a well worked goal and a cool finish from their front man. CK worked hard to press for a goal, Ben Hewlett looking his usual energetic self, finally finding an opening as Harry Baker picked up the ball close range, shooting but glancing over off a Titans hand. Penalty for CK..............placed by the ref outside the box??????.........Kial Mumford firing just wide to the left. Not our day!! Two good performances today showing how much CK U10s have improved.
15 September 2012: CK 4-1 Porton
First game of the new season saw CK start brightly. With 2 goalkeepers now in the squad, new boy Lee Nicholson started in goal and last seasons regular Harvey McLean started at left back alongside Ben Hewlett, also making his first team debut. CK dominated the first 15 minutes, passing and moving nicely but failing to find the net, Joe Brown narrowly missing two fine chances. Porton punished a nervous moment at the back, very much against the run of play, there forward prodding the ball home from close range.
Moments after play restarted, Kial Mumford pushed the ball out wide on the left to Kai Henderson who quickly accelerated, taking on 4 Porton players, cutting into the box from the left and firing home. A fantastic goal........1-1. Porton kicked off but CK quickly regained possession, Kial Mumford again at the centre of things, slipping the ball through to Jamie Ross to finish with some style. CK were unlucky not to be 3-1 up at half time as Kai Henderson glanced a header from a CK free kick narrowly over the cross bar.
The boys had good composure throughout the second half, playing good passing football but closing down quickly when not in possession. The result looked safe as Joe Brown blasted his first of the season. A four pass move by CK 5 minutes from time was neatly finished by Jamie Ross to make it 4 -1. A great start to the season. Man of the Match Kial Mumford was outstanding today, setting the tempo of the game right from the start, strong tackles and excellent link up play with Kai Henderson the two forward players.
15 September 2012: Friendly.....CK 0-1 Porton
CK were desperately unlucky not to take anything from this game, Portons keeper having a superb game and denying numerous attempts on goal from a determined CK team. Lee Nicholson and Justin Fryatt looked very solid and composed at the back and CK passed well right from the start. Alfie Waters and Lucy Ladd linked up nicely on several occasions to create goalscoring opportunities.
CK defended well throughout, despite going 1 nil down early on and set about their attacking play with good imagination. Lee Nicholson forced the Porton keeper to produce two superb saves, one from a long range shot outside the box, the second from a free kick. CK simply ran out of time to find the equaliser and whilst we should be disappointed with the result, the performance was good.
09 September 2012: New Season 2012/2013
A good win vs New Street in a friendly in August and excellent attitude from the team at training throughout the Summer bodes well for the new season!
First fixture at home vs Porton, Saturday 15th September 2012, 10am kick off.
