MATCH REPORTS
07 May 2016: LOCK HATRICK SECURES WIN
Andover Lions Res 2 CK ANDOVER 4
CK at last had a full squad of 15 players to choose from which gave them options from the start. The new formation of 3-5-2 worked well and Lions could not cope with the CK midfield out numbering them. This enabled CK to take control and then use the pace they had throughout the team to cause Lions problems. With Ryan Morgans and Jordy Mumford providing the wide play this stretched the Lions defence and Shane Lock took full advantage when first Ryan Morgans played him through and the Mark Alexander to take both chance to give CK a two goal lead. Jamie Healy and Gen Batterby were proving the holding midfield roles perfectly which allowed the energetic Connor Mumford to press high and drive at the Lions defence, ending with a excellent shot into the bottom corner. At half time we spoke that the next goal would be important. CK looked in total control sometimes trying to walk the ball into the net. Chance after chance came and went for CK and you just knew that they would come to regret the misses. Lions took full advantage and scored twice to set the CK nerves jangling. Again chances came for CK and then at last Shane Lock provided the little bit of class to put the game to bed. Quick fit wrong footing both the defender and goalkeeper and finishing well to complete his hatrick. Special mention to the defensive players today who playing a new formation were solid allowing the attacking players to flourish. Player of the match is difficult today Shane Lock for a superb hatrick, Jamie Healy Gen Batterby and Connor Mumford for working so hard in midfield, Rhys Collins for a brave challenge which saw him in A and E being stitched up for a facial injury, but I'm giving it to Ed Farrow who had his best game for CK slotting into defence when Ryhs was taken off and leading the back line so well. A fitting end to a positive first season for the senior team.
23 April 2016: A WIN !
CK ANDOVER 3 Over Wallop 1
3 points in the league ! A long time coming but a good team performance and a well deserved victory. CK didn't start particularly well, they seemed off the pace and we're giving their opponents far too much space. The midfield found it difficult as Wallop overloaded their midfield to outnumber us. However CK really do have some attacking pace in the squad now and always looked dangerous on the break. Giving that extra player in midfield allowed us to then out number their defence every time we attacked and this worked perfectly when the in form Ryan Morgans finished well to give CK the lead. A miss timed tackle gave Wallop the equaliser from the penalty spot but CK then took control of the game. A great burst from defence by Eddie Cochran saw the ball fed through to Shane Lock who supplied an excellent finish. CK have been in great positions at half time in many games this season but have never managed to complete the job. Today they did. Tom Jarvis was solid in the CK goal, and with captain Rhys Collins leading the back line well CK never really looked in trouble but at 2-1 you are never comfortable. Jamie Healy eased any nerves with with a cool finish as he broke into the penalty box and rounded the keeper to make it 3-1. CK could have added to the total but found the Wallop keeper in good form. Denied a definite penalty again in the last few seconds but nothing could spoil a great win for CK !
09 April 2016: SUPERB SPIRIT AND NEARLY THE PERFECT COMEBACK !
Over Wallop 4 CK ANDOVER 4
Work commitments and injuries all contributed to CK only being able to field 10 players but at times in the first half it was them that looked to have the extra player. New signing Shane Lock and the energetic Ryan Morgans were linking well and with the midfield working hard to make up the extra player CK looked comfortable. Wallop were starting to get frustrated and this worked in CK's favour once again. As the game went on though Wallop finally started to expose the gaps and eventually the CK resolve wore out. With two goals towards the end of the first half and a further goal at the start of the second the game looked over. However CK then got some good fortune as a long shot by Shane Lock was misjudged by the keeper and CK had a goal back. You could then see the confidence flood back into the CK team. Superb attacking play with pace saw Ryan Morgans volley home and Shane Lock finish well for his second to draw CK back level. Again Wallop found themselves arguing amongst themselves and when Ryan Morgans stole the ball on the halfway line raced clear and rounded the keeper to put CK 4-3 up with only minutes left it looked like the comeback of the season for CK. However with only seconds left a long ball into the penalty box spun up clipping the unlucky hand of Eddie Cochran. Wallop gratefully accepted the soft penalty. A remarkable performance from the 10 men of CK !
19 March 2016: AND ANOTHER POOR DECISION COSTS CK
CK ANDOVER 0 New Street 1
CK really are starting to play much better football with a good high tempo feel to it. The two up front is working well and the midfield are working hard. When we play the ball on the floor and move it quickly it really is a joy to watch. Again the quick closing down rattled New Street and when Connor Mumford blocked the Street defender clearance and broke free into the box the chasing defender could only clip his heels. Penalty......no nothing given by the referee. Again chances fell for CK with Ryan Morgans and Jamie Healy both going close. One of those chances going in would certAinly have changed the game but again one lapse in concentration at a free kick saw an unmarked street player arrive in the box and score. Again CK created chances and again had a good penalty shout turned away. So positives again but also frustrating. not sure what we have to do to get a penalty decision in our favour.
12 March 2016: REFEREE DECISIONS COST CK
CK ANDOVER 0 Spartens 4
Although CK suffered another defeat the signs were much better for CK who took the game to a much older and experienced Spartens team. The team played at a much higher tempo than the week before and this unsettled the sparten team. Ryan Morgans and Connor Mumford closing down superbly and leading from the front as CK played two young quick pair up front. As in previous matches the game edged away from CK after two referee decisions. First Connor Mumford being tripped in the box but the referee saying no and then a dubious hand ball decision going against them which Spartens gratefully accepted. This knocked the CK confidence and they soon found themselves further behind. At the break CK then again out played Spartens and created chances but with none being taken and pushing on this left gaps in their defence and Spartens eventually wrapped up the win. Positive for CK.
05 March 2016: NO EXCUSES FOR CK
South Wonston 7 CK ANDOVER 0
There can be no excuses for CK who were well beaten by a much better team. It started well for CK who managed to limit the Wonston chances but as in many games soon lacks of concentration came back to haunt them. Poor marking and poor decision making contributed to their own downfall as they conceded three goals before half time. The second half again mirrored the first with Wonston taking full advantage of a lack lustre performance. A bad day at the office for CK.
