CK ANDOVER - Under 14s 2016/17
MATCH REPORTS
03 December 2016: Sarum Youth 14's v CK Andover 14's
Well .......what can i say , they say football is a game of 2 halves and that was certainly the case today for the under 14's .
We started off with just 9 players and Sarum Youth very sportingly dropped to 9 as well which was great. We kicked off and got stuck in straight away , some great passing and defending and a couple of half decent attacks too. We went 1-0 down and kept battling on and then caught Sarum on the counter to even it up 1-1 , confidence lifted we went on a couple more runs but a cheeky deflection saw us go down 2-1 . A proper battle and game of football was on the cards and a late arrival ( Mikey ) turning up and going up to 10 men was a bonus . Half time saw us go in just 4-1 down .
Second half was totally different, a couple of silly defensive errors and sleepwalking by a few players and there was a quick succession of goals making it 7-1 in no time, the customary heads dropped and we just fell apart. The opposition were walking the ball over the line at times and we just stopped playing.
The positive things were we scored , and we had a great first half , special mentions to Jake McGregor who got man of the match for never giving up the chase , Joe for working hard all game and Brandon who did a fab job as Captain and also worked really hard, and Zac for a cracking finish to some great build up play for our goal. Final score SARUM YOUTH 13 CK ANDOVER 1
Score doesn't reflect the work rate in the first half though. Improvements happening weekly.
26 November 2016: CK 14s v Sarum Youth 14's Cup Tie
CK got off to a very solid start with some great defensive play, tracking back from midfield and even a few runs at goal. New signing Spencer made some cracking pace runs at the defence of Sarum Youth and we had them on the back foot a few times. Despite the hard work a great counter attack lead to an opening goal for the opposition and then quickly followed by another . We kept our composure and kept our heads and carried on playing really well. The experience started to pay off and Sarum broke a few times and despite Callum having a great time in goal he was unable to stop the barage of shots. Half time we went in 5-0 down but heads were still up and we didn't give up. Second half saw much of the same thing until an injury forced Spencer off. Sarum took full advantage of the re-shuffle and holes in the defence soon started to appear. Heads dropped a little and despite efforts to keep them going to the end another defeat was looming and the guys knew it. Zac had a little run through 4-5 players and shot only for the keeper to make an outstanding save from going in the top right corner , lady luck wasn't shining on us again. Overall it was an improvement by the team and despite a few negative , unwelcome comments by one or two i'm pretty happy with the performance and if we can get better each week it will come together. Keep chipping away lads and ignore the negative comments, i'm really proud of you.

12 November 2016: CK Andover 14's v Ludgershall 14's
CK Andover were at home today against Ludgershall FC .
A tribute to the fallen was very well respected by both teams before kick off so well done to the boys for that.
CK got off to a flier with at least 2 half chances in the first 20 minutes before a mix up in defence saw Ludgershall take the lead. It wasn't long before a second went in and heads dropped. Its incredibly hard conceding goals each week as the confidence just falls away and they lose hope. Despite that CK did show signs of some of the football we know they can play and things we have been working on in training were coming through too. We will improve each week and eventually it will all come good , for now though the boys need to keep believing in themselves and stop giving up when they concede. It takes a lot of guts to keep losing and still carry on and their efforts will be rewarded soon. Next week we are away to Shooters FC .
05 November 2016: Laverstock & Ford 14's v CK Andover 14's
This week we travelled away to Laverstock and Ford FC who were currently sitting 2nd in the league with a great goal difference. It was a bitterly cold morning and we were down to just 10 again to start.
I set the boys up to try and defend as much as possible and avoid another rout like we had the week before.
Unfortunately we didn't get off to a very good start and were soon a couple of goals down. Heads dropped and spirits and we simply gave up.
Laverstock made the most of the extra man and were at times giving us a very difficult time. We had no luck at all and went on to yet another heavy defeat.
We just need a little break to gain some confidence and I'm pretty sure this team can step it up a gear or two. We will keep plugging away and it will come.

29 October 2016: CK Andover 14's v CSA07 14's
Today CK faced top of league CSA07 at Barrow Hill , we started off on the back foot with just 10 players so were always going to have a battle on our hands, and battle we did . CSA showed why they are top of the league with a well drilled, well organised attack and were quickly on the score sheet. Despite giving 100% all over the pitch the guys were simply outplayed in every area and outclassed by a clearly superior team. Second half we did seem to drop heads a bit but still played until the final whistle and never gave up. It was amazing to see the effort the guys put in despite a heavy defeat. The opposition manager even came over to tell the boys how he admired them for their courage and determination so i was very proud.

15 October 2016: Fordingbridge Turks v CK Andover FC
Today we travelled away to Fordingbridge for our second encounter in as many weeks with the Turks. Our goalkeeper Callum Sherwin was outstanding today and kept the scoreline down from what would have been very embarrassing to a minimum. Not good viewing today.
