08 October 2016: Hampshire Cup Tie
This mornings cup tie was against Fordingbridge Turks. We started off pretty well and held our back line which we practised in training on Monday, the Turks made a couple of decent breaks but the training paid off as they were repeatedly caught offside. CK held on but we got caught a couple of times and went in at half time 2-0 down. In the second half i made a few changes again and we quickly conceded 3 goals after our defence had a bit of a nap. Although we did make a few decent counter attacks and manage to score 3 goals ( Kial 2, Tristan 1 ) we just couldn't overcome the deficit and we lost 7-3 .
I hold myself responsible not the lads for trying to run before we could walk. Back to the drawing board for next week when we face the same team again in the league.

01 October 2016: CK Andover 14's V Sarum Youth
Today we finally got our season underway after a little delay to get prepared.
We faced a very good Sarum youth team who had some very tall players , but despite that we started quite well with Joe and Nathan linking up well to cause a few problems . Josh R and Brandon were solid in centre back positions and held Sarum off quite well. Unfortunately an injury to our goalkeeper Dylan meant we did concede a few soft goals but he did a great job against a very attack minded team despite being in pain. A quick burst from midfield saw a break on for CK and we took full advantage with Joe hitting home his first of the season and we went in at half time 4-1 down. A few changes of position in the second half didn't go too well and we conceded a few more goals . On the plus side a couple of cracking breaks and we did get away to score a second which Joe rifled in after some great counter attacking. Plenty for us to work on in training but in all I'm happy with the boys today. Onwards and upwards to the next game. Full time CK 2 Sarum Youth 13.
